The Mission of the City Of Muskogee Emergency Management office is "Saving Lives" and informing the citizens of Muskogee about emergency preparedness, and how to minimize the effects of technological and natural disasters upon the people of the City of Muskogee by preparing implementing and exercising preparedness plans, and coordinating actual disaster response/recovery operations. 

This agency is also responsible for storm spotting, tornado alerting, mass notification, flood watches and disaster recovery. 

The Emergency Management Department hast two full-time employees working in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) located at the 911 Center. The rest of the staff is made up of volunteers, Amateur Radio Operators, Etc... which make up the "Weather 1 Storm Team". Our spotters are formally trained by the National Weather Service (NWS) annually. These people utilize their own vehicle, and give of their time freely. Placing themselves in extremely dangerous situations, in order to assist the EOC staff in providing our citizens with the most timely and accurate severe weather information possible. They are our number one resource during hazardous weather. "Without these people, on the ground, in harms way, providing this information, we could not properly accomplish our mission."
